In honor of Walt’s birthday ... The Walt Disney Family Museum is celebrating by offering its ONLY free admission day of the year. As noted in a news radio report, most other museums in San Francisco offer between four and 12 free admission days per year. The WDFM’s free admission offer does not include entry into the special exhibition, “All Aboard: A Celebration of Walt’s Trains,” but does include access on a space-available basis to spotlight talks and the open studio. The museum will also be screening its fifth anniversary film on the anniversary of Walt’s birth and several additional times in December. It features archival footage of the museum’s planning and construction phases as well as a bittersweet interview with Diane Disney Miller explaining why the museum — her “book” — is located in San Francisco. It’s an interesting documentary but not quite as enchanting as “Christmas with Walt Disney,” which will be added back to the daily December film rotation on Monday, Dec. 8. Today (Friday) should be a busy but fun day at the museum.
