In honor of the anniversary of the ADA what are some of your favorite orgs working towards inclusion and participation of people with disabilities? I will get us started with two new ones: Florida Disability Access and Awareness Foundation: Started this year by Ralph Strzalkowski who blogs at Lawyer on Wheels, .."the foundation was established by a group of often-transient researchers, students and forward-thinking community members. Recognizing the need for accessible facilities and services – from bathrooms and sidewalks to counseling and transportation – we hope to provide visitors and residents with resources in order to function in society as efficiently as possible." fdaaf.org RespectaAbilityUSA: "Will work work to educate, sensitize and engage Americans to focus on what people with disabilities can do, rather than on what they cannot. RespectabilityUSA will seek--gradually, steadily, and in a practical way--to help increase the number and percentage of disabled Americans who engage in gainful employment, start and sustain their own businesses, lift themselves into the middle class, and participate in their communities--as far as their abilities and efforts will take them." https://facebook/RespectAbilityUSA Hats off to these two new leaders working to support the greater disability community!
