In just a few days my son, Lake Burns, starts his Senior year in high school. He is an awesome son. He has always been a good kid and has stayed out of trouble throughout his life thus far. I went to the school today to be a part of the start-up process of his Senior year. He was talking to his friends and had the whole thing down pat. As I stood there talking to one of the principals, Lake came and hugged me telling me he had to get back to band practice. It was at that moment that I recalled his first day of Kindergarten. He came up and hugged me and went to sit in his seat. I almost cried back then and found myself having a harder time fighting back tears today....but because hes nearly grown I forced those tears back as to not embarrass him, or me. I realized at that moment that hes no longer a little boy. I love him more than life. Hes my world and in my heart he will still always be my little boy. Letting go is so hard.
