In keeping with our mission to promote health & fitness and to support the local community: For the past 14 years, the Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners (WNLRs) have provided scholarships to outstanding high school senior distance runners throughout Monterey County. This year, a total of $11,600 in awards was given to 13 student runners who were nominated by their coaches and met the WNLRs running, leadership and educational criteria. The scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2000, are derived from donations of the WNLR club members and a matching grant from the Big Sur International Marathon. About the Wednesday Night Laundry Runners... Founded in 1965, the Wednesday Night Laundry Runners (USATF team #133) are a local distance running club with members throughout the Monterey Peninsula and Salinas. There are 365 members with ages ranging from 15 to 82. See more information at wnlr.org. For additional information contact: Mike Dove Mnjdove@aol
