In late July I complete a series of trades that resulted in my acquiring 78 milk crates of vintage vinyl albums. After 128 days of inspecting and cataloguing album after album (spending on average three hours per night) the deed is finally done. Of the 7317 albums I started with, 3968 are now catalogued and prices on discogs. I also discard (or sold in bulk 3349 pieces) The survivors range in price from $1 to $150 in collector value and that price is based on a 10% discount off the established collectors price. What started out as items I traded in the $150 range has turned into four months of education on the recording industry, artists from the 4s through the early 80s and a wealth of knowledge that I consider invaluable. It was real and it was fun, but it wasnt real fun. And will never happen again, at least not on that scale. In addition, the combined collectors value of my hoard is $27,695.45...not bad starting from a handful of Star Wars figures worth about $150. BOO YAH!
