In lawyer lingo, Maj. Gen. Joseph Nkaisserry is way my senior in the security field. If i am not wrong his last uniformed command was as the Commanding Officer WESTCOMM. (If you dont understand that one dont let it worry you too much!). This is a key command in this great countrys defense strategy. Believe me to get to the rank of Major General and be entrusted with such a key command means you know your stuff. Many of us watchmen agree that the good general is up to the task herculean as it is! He will definitely provide the much needed professional paradigm at the National Security Council. It will be interesting to see how his relationship with Gen. Karangi another forceful military man with an overbearing presence at the NSC and clearly the presidents ear plays out. This makes it three General Staff Officers at the NSC! A dream team by any standard. I (and other watchies am sure) really hope that the President is committed to give the good general the right team at Vigilance house where the problem clearly is. My word of advise (as superfluous as that may sound!) to the General , what is ailing our fight against terror is lack of a clear national policy on (anti/counter) terrorism. If i were you i would take a step back from all the hoopla and noise and invest in this key policy and a clear long term strategy. This is what will inform the HOW this threat is dealt with. It will also guide us as a country on where to commit our resources and efforts. We will hence be proactive rather than reactive in this fight. Right now the bad guys seem to be ahead of us kila wakati! Finally my pet subject POLICE REFORMS! Believe me you need to reinvigorate this key process. Trust me that will solve the rest of your security problems. As my boss puts it WITHOUT A PROPER POLICY AND CLEAR STRATEGY you end up running around like a headless chicken! That is what good old Ole Lenku couldnt hack! I believe that is where his end began!
