In light of this sad, sad time for our country, watching the news and the destruction being carried out by people in the name of justice, I just have to say how fortunate I feel to have grown up in a community that embraced its citizens regardless of race, religion, or any other differences. Of course we had our own biases - but I can honestly say that I never viewed my friends as black or white, straight or gay, catholic or protestant - just saw my friends. Thats the beauty of Columbia. Thats the part that will always lead me home no matter where I am in life.
