In many instances people react negatively when confronted with negative emotions or behavior (anger, verbal or physical abuse, etc.). But its rare that a negative reaction resolves a problem. In fact, in most cases it makes the situation worse. Reacting violently, in word or deed, to a negative incident only adds fuel to the fire. If this has happened to you, you know how rapidly a situation can deteriorate and become uncontrollable. You also know how easy it is to lose your ability to communicate clearly. Thats what happens when you react violently to violence. The fire of hate quickly spreads unless its somehow contained. Whenever youre confronted with aggression or violence, do your best to stay calm, and generate feelings of love around you. The positive vibrations you create will have a soothing impact on even the most aggressive person, I guarantee it. Although its hard to imagine how a loving attitude and an open mind can de-dramatize even the most difficult situation, thats exactly what happens! Vibrations of love are stronger than vibrations of hate. If that werent the case, the world would have fallen into chaos long ago, and the forces of of love would not still be active in the Universe. Each of us contributes to the power of love in our own way. One thing we can all work on is how we react to aggression. Not adding fuel to the fire, and reacting to aggression with compassion and love instead of violence, will go a long way towards resolving conflicts. Aggressive people usually have some inner suffering theyre unable to express, except by being dominant. You need to show them another way! Maintaining an attitude of love and understanding will lead to solutions that avoid negative feelings of hate and aggression. You may be surprised at how someone who seemed aggressive, or even violent, reacts when you treat them with love and respect. In the long run, your pacifism and understanding will win out, as the light of understanding illuminates the darkness of hate. Your devoted friend,
