In my early 20s among Hindus, Jains, Christians and European - TopicsExpress

In my early 20s among Hindus, Jains, Christians and European hippies at a Muslim retreat compound in the western India desert, I learned traditional Buddhist meditation from a Hindu businessman who had become a traveling teacher of the practice the Buddha taught. He changed my life, and over his decades of teaching, did the same for an uncountable number of others. The open-to-everyone approach that my experience exemplified was how he did his teaching — and how he became, as one remembrance yesterday put it, "the man who taught the world to meditate." SN Goenka passed away last Sunday, at age 90. Everyone who learned from him called him Goenka ji, adding the Hindu honorific. He deserved it as much as anyone who has, I think, ever lived. Thank you, Goenka ji, and good journey. huffingtonpost/jay-michaelson/sn-goenka-dead_b_4016374.html
