In my first year at McGill, one of the Ive noticed is the thriving poetry scene we have here. With clubs like McSWAY, and publications like Scrivener, Steps and my very own The Veg, there are plenty of outlets for aspiring poets to have their voice heard. Still, competition is so tough even the best of us get left out sometimes. Take my friend, Will, for instance: Will is a U2 in English Literature, looking to get into Honours next year. Will is an avid writer of poetry and has consistently been sending his stuff to publications such as The Veg and steps. Unfortunately for Will, however, the competition for publication at McGill is extremely tough; not one of his sonnets have been published and this makes Will sad. He almost thought about giving up on poetry entirely: the other day, I found Will sitting outside the Arts Building, pondering whether his career as a poet was meant to be, or not to be. Suffice it to say, I gave Will a good talking to, and he has promised not to give up on his dreams so easily. I think hes also gotten to quite like me because of our talk. Come, do the same. Maybe you will too! Oh, and, as with Franz and Charles, Wills looking forward to voting for me as well. And he hopes you are too.
