In my opinion, although not very good... Iggy Azalea says NOTHING about the state of Hip Hop right now, but does say how well the marketing machine is oiled now. We are so quick to forget that Bust A Move won the grammy for Best Hip Hop Song in 1990. Do people really think that the shitty Hip Hop of the earlier 2000s or of the 90s wasnt chart topping? That it didnt eclipse the far better Hip Hop of that time? I fear we are remembering incorrectly like almost every generation does of their favourite genre, romanticizing the old days and demonizing the new. Does nobody remember My Humps, my lovely lady lumps sitting at #1? Or almost anything by Nelly for that matter? The only difference is that radio and media in general have LONG since been bought off by the labels and so they just put Fancy on rotate every 30 minutes. But then again, that was the same shit with Pretty Fly For A White Guy which also sucked ass. My 2 cents.
