In my opinion, raising awareness for a worthwhile cause and helping those less fortunate is my responsibility as a successful business owner. This is our fourth year we’ve participated in raising money for Breast Cancer Research, and for the third straight year, we’ve been so fortunate to work in conjunction with Tina McDonough and the entire group at Valley Girls & Guys, who’ve themselves raised over $1.8 million since 2007 for Susan G. Komen. As many of you know, this year our fund raiser has meant a lot to me personally. My wife Samantha was diagnosed earlier this year with breast cancer, and I’m so happy to announce that she’s responded very well to treatment. Valley Girls & Guys has been a tremendous help in her recovery, the support we’ve received has meant so much to my family I reached out to many people this year in hopes that we’d greatly exceed the $28,600 we raised in 2013 for Valley Girls & Guys, and I’d like to thank them all for their support. First, I’d like to thank all the vendors who donated their time, resources, product and/or money in making this year our biggest fund raiser yet. My sincere thanks to Valpak, Northern Fish, Fikes, Nishimoto Trading Company, WHOhouse, Vinum Distributing, Lake Tapps Salon, SEASIA, JFC International, and US Foods. Second, a big thank you to all my staff who helped me sell 6343 Raffle tickets, in which 100% of the money raised is going to Valley Girls & Guys. And finally, I’d like to thank all my customers who bought those tickets, and/or dined in my stores last night, October 22nd. All sales from 5:00pm until close are also being donated, which brings us to….. This year we were able to raise $51,616.02 !! Which brings our 3 year total to $97,400 raised for Valley Girls & Guys. Words cannot express how appreciative I am to everyone who worked so hard to surpass my target goal for this year. Until there is a cure, I foresee us at Trapper’s Sushi continuing to support this cause. For those interested, please visit the3day.org and/or facebook/ValleyGirlsandGuys to learn more about this amazing organization working towards a cure. Thank you, Trapper O’Keeffe
