In my opinion, the most moving music in Nutcracker is that found in the two Pas de Deux. I was unaware of this particular one prior to the first time I played the ballet (18 years ago), and I fell in love with it then. The cello melody at the beginning. The trademark melody in 2 over the wind triplets. And the sequence starting at the 2:45 mark, culminating in the brass chords at 3:40. Chills every time, and I have played this over 100 times.
