In no state can a minimum wage worker afford a two-bedroom unit at Fair Market Rent, working a standard 40-hour work week, without paying more than 30% of there income. It takes about 87 min. wage hours to afford an apartment in Maine. Think about single working parents with one or more children! Think about other expenses needed to work in Maine, a car (because unless you live in town theres not mode of transportation, gas for that car, food on your table, food for your kids/animals...it makes me wonder how anyone can afford to live in any state? Something really has to change. Has anyone else wondered how the value of a dollar can continue to decrease yet the cost of living continues to raise? It just doesnt make any sense! End rant.
