In occupied Kashmir, curfew and strict restrictions remained imposed in Bandipora district for the fourth consecutive day, today, to prevent widespread anti-India protest demonstrations against the recent killing of a young boy, Farhat Ahmad Dar. The residents complained that they were facing acute shortage of daily commodities including milk, bread and vegetables due to the continued curfew. JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik and other liberation leaders including Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Showket Ahmad Bakshi, Bashir Ahmad Butt and Shaikh Abdul Rashid remained locked in different police stations of the occupied territory. The authorities continued to place Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Butt, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Mohammad Ashraf Laya under house arrest. The action was aimed to prevent the leaders from leading demonstrations against the cold-blooded murder of the youth, Farhat Ahmad Dar. The puppet Minister for Higher Education, Muhammad Akbar Lone, who is also a senior leader of the ruling National Conference, admitted that he did not have faith in the commission, ordered by the authorities to probe the murder of Farhat Ahmed Dar by the police. He demanded that a sitting or a retired high court judge be nominated to investigate the matter. The journalists in Srinagar said that Indian Central Reserve Police Force had used them as human shields, while they were covering anti-India protests against the killing of the youth, Farhat Dar in Hajan town. They complained that they were also subjected to torture by the troops. A complete shutdown was observed in Tral town against the arbitrary arrests of youth by Indian troops. A large number of youth assembled at the main Bus Stand in the town and staged anti-India and pro-liberation demonstrations. India on Monday shut down the internet service in parts of occupied Kashmir to prevent Kashmiri leaders, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, from addressing via video link an event held on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations Human Rights Council session in Geneva.
