In order to understand the actual meanings behind many of the stories and narratives in ancient scriptural works it is first essential to understand the basic tenets of the one message of all of these great mystic souls whose words are being quoted (usually our of context). Such beings are the living embodiment of the active power of the creator of the lower realms of the entire creation. As such they have no personal agendas or political ambitions. Their only function is to collect specific souls, allotted to them for guidance by the creator, during the period of their individual lifespans. The power remains the same but the personalities that wield it change with the times. The message is always the same but the way the message is passed on to their chosen, personally initiated souls will vary in accordance with the personality of the individual master himself. When some inner progress has been made then, as initiates, we will see within how great is the true majesty of the simple flesh-borne reality of our own master. These great souls are all like individual logs in one great fire. Some have served their purpose and have now all but burnt out and some are still an integral part of the inner power of the Word - that active aspect of the creator. Who are we to judge if one log in the same fire is more important than another log? It is man, and his inherent competitive nature, who insists on boosting his own insecure ego by proclaiming that his own belief, or master is the only correct one. Hell, Im doing it right now. But, after forty years on this path, I do now have sufficient inner experience to be able to distinguish between higher truths and realities and the human need to simply be right, if not factually correct. There are so many narratives given by these great souls in order to try and explain esoteric, inner truths to their initiates. These narratives must center around physical situations and heroes, because man knows nothing of the inner workings of his own situation and purpose in the creation. The problem is that, not having had direct access to the actual mystic master who was creating these metaphorical narratives to explain the inner hierarchies of the creation to his own initiates, those who would create religions have simply taken these externalized analogies at their face value. Anybody who really thinks that one man actually convinced a whole bunch of people that a burning bush suggested to him that they should undertake a forty year hike through desert terrain to some great promised land, is not firing on all cylinders. And if anybody can logically fit two of each created animal on earth onto a wooden boat built by only a few labourers, then I would wish to check those calculations for myself. These are all analogous narratives outlining the souls progress from higher realms to the gross physical regions and then the eventual journey of the mind and soul upon its return to the real promised land within. When the truth of the inner workings of the creation have been explained to us by the perfect living master of our own time then these stories and analogies in the ancient scriptural texts begin to reveal their true esoteric meaning and their beauty to us. This is when a whole new reality dawns upon us.
