In our first post of the Captioning series, we discussed how Sencore can facilitate the delivery of captions to all viewers on all devices. Now that your network can deliver these captions to viewers, how do you maintain the highest quality and most reliable viewing experience? Monitoring video quality and closed captions within your network is the most ideal and proactive method of guaranteeing your network is delivering a quality viewing experience. Pinpointing issues as they arise allows you to fix problems before they affect your viewers. Sencore can help facilitate confidence monitoring in both large and small applications – ensuring your customers are seeing what you are sending. Sencore’s receiver/decoder products provide the ability to burn-in captions with overlays into the decoded video. This allows operators and engineers to monitor CEA-608/708 captions in real-time to verify timing and presence of each closed caption service. In addition to the closed caption overlay feature, Sencore receiver/decoder products provide the highest quality decoded video and audio to provide an accurate picture and audio levels to your video wall or broadcast monitors. Placing Sencore receiver/decoder products in strategic points in your network expedites troubleshooting by allowing operators to identify the points in the network where problems begin. Sencore’s receiver/decoders feature a variety of output options allowing operators to view decoded video and audio and closed caption overlays from any method of monitoring. With support for SNMP traps, the receiver/decoders will notify automation systems of problems indicating the system needs to switch to a backup source. For large numbers of services, the Sencore AG 4801 8VSB/QAM or AG-4802 ASI receiver/decoder cards can provide high quality decoded video and close caption overlays for monitoring. Taking advantage of the OpenGear form factor the AG receiver/decoder cards can provide up to 10-channel decodes in 2RU of rack space. An entire line-up of channels can be monitored in minimal rack space with significantly less power consumption compared to a common IRD platform. Managing a large number of cards and chassis’ is simple with the Dashboard control software that is included with all AG cards. The AG line also supports SNMP traps to notify automation systems of problems or inform operators of issues. All of these products are backed by Sencore’s ProCare support engineers.
