In our latest installment of outdoor survival, the boys went a bit further into the woods, with only the food and supplies on their back, and their own vision on how to craft their structures. Emphasis was placed on choosing an area that was out of the wind and building their shelters and gathering firewood while there was still daylight. The low Saturday night dropped to 21*, so it was a good test to be sure. Aside from some cold fingers, toes and noses and frozen water bottles, the scouts made it through in fine fashion.
