“In our valley, the prevalence of HIV is estimated at 67 percent higher than the national average, which puts everyone at greater risk, especially when you consider that more than 53 percent of Coachella Valley residents have never been tested for HIV,” says David Brinkman, CEO of Desert AIDS Project. “We’re thrilled that essential decision-makers and influencers have signed on to join our walk and to Get Tested Coachella Valley, because the CDC estimates that approximately one in five people living with HIV in the U.S. don’t know they are infected.” And with our yearly Gay Pride events and White Party Palm Springs California these numbers are sure to triple each year. With the upgrades to our Palm Springs International Airport we will no doubt be supplying other states and countries with plenty of brand new HIV cases as well.
