In over six decades, not once, a Hindu has occupied the seat of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, inspite of the fact that Hindus constitute one-third of the state’s population. If a Muslim (Abdul Ghafoor) can become chief minister of Hindu-majority Bihar, a Muslim (AR Antulay) can become chief minister of Hindu-majority Maharashtra, a Muslim (Mohammed Koya) and Christians (AK Antony and Ooman Chandy) can become chief ministers of Hindu-majority Kerala, a Christian (Ajit Jogi) can become chief minister of Hindu-majority Chhattisgarh, a Christian proselytiser (YS Rajasekhar Reddy) can become chief minister of Hindu-majority Andhra Pradesh, a Christian (Nabam Tuki) can become chief minister of Hindu-majority Arunachal Pradesh, five Christians (Churchil Alemao, Luis Proto Barbosa, Wilfred D’Souza, Luizinho Faleiro and Fransisco Sardinha) can become chief minister of Hindu-majority Goa, then why, why has J&K not had a Hindu chief minister in sixty years. Why all talk of secularism stops at the borders of J&K? It’s time to rectify this aberration. Let all non-BJP players in the state who constantly attack BJP with the stick of secularism, declare from the rooftop of India, that this time, if they come to power, they will appoint a Hindu MLA as the chief minister of J&K? Hai kisi mein dum? No way! Seculariusm is only for Hindus.
