In reading through the posts about patches I noticed that some of the pet owners assume that show dogs are not pets. Most people who show Dals only have a few dogs and their dogs live as housepets and companions. Dals do NOT make good kennel dogs, and do best in the house as family members. Although I have shown Dals for almost 50 years (yeah, I started young!) my dogs (I share my house with 5) are first and foremost pets and companions. This is my newest champion Max who finished his title yesterday. In a litter with a number of promising pups, Max stole my heart because of his personality. Ive NEVER regretted keeping him. This is Max sharing my bed (and kissing my ear) in the motel room last night, after the dog show. If hed never won a point I would love him just as much.
