In recent events it has been pointed out that I, Lauren Relyea, am a full figured woman. As if I already didnt know. However, its amazing who I hear these words coming from- persons younger than me, and some way older than me. These people who barely know me find the first words to describe me as large or heavy or fat. They dont know me well enough to know that I was elected amongst my peers as the Class Clown of 2009. They dont know that I get teary eyed at certain songs. They dont know I love the men and women who serve our country, dogs of all kinds, and babies of all nationalities. So why do they insist on labeling me with something I already know? Ive been this way for 23 years. They dont know my struggle with my weight and my struggle to keep amazing food out of my mouth- because thats not whats important. Since when does the size of my body determine the quality of my character? Its a struggle. I deal with it every day and I know Im not alone. But I DO know Im beautiful because God made me this way. And hell, makeup and camera angles help too. ;) Lets start taking the time to know each other. Because Im not just some fat chick. Im a fat chick who likes dogs, and hanging out with friends, and staying up late watching hours of FRIENDS while eating a giant bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Etc.
