In recognition of exceptional service to others, the Athens Student Council were recognized by Mayor Dane Slater and Troy City Council at tonights City Council meeting. During the 2014 Charity Week, the Athens Student Council organized a week-long event which raised more than $56,000 to benefit Desert Angels, a non-profit organization that send care packages to members of the U.S. Armed Forces deployed overseas. While committed to their academic achievement and making the most of their educational opportunities, these outstanding young men and women find time to be dedicated and capable volunteers. The Athens High Student Council’s leadership qualities and hard work are a credit to themselves, their families, the Troy School District and the City of Troy. They have enriched our community through their acts of compassion, generosity, and personal growth. Thank you, AHS Student Council.
