In response in something I read... Im certainly not one for confrontation... (Peace, love! You know me!) however, when my family is involved in the nonsensical chatter I cant help but voice my opinion. Emergency services require a team of not one unit, but multiple units, none of which are held on a higher pedestal than the other. Personally I have the utmost respect for a our emergency services! In each situation, one unit may be the priority unit depending upon the emergency. All units are trained for their respective duties, all of which serve an important role. All people involved continually train;learning more techniques and education to master their choice of service... Improving the quality of the team. In any of these services, its about service... And helping the community: but remember each is a master of their specific duty. Imagine being the first on scene in a devastating emergency situation of which it is not your specific training?!?! SEE FROM ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE. If you were the first on scene of a raging fire caused by natural gas, propane, wax, or a situation you arent trained to deal with; you recognize something must be done yet the complexity of the situation leaves you feeling helpless; something must be done as devastation is unfolding in front of you. Ignorant is speaking negatively about someone when you, in fact, are only human yourself; not perfect, not all knowing, not better than anyone else. Ignorant is calling firefighters broom pushers. I know my family attends many fire education seminars for hours and multiple days, leaving their families at home, to learn as much as they can about their duties as firefighters. Are they trained in first aid and CPR? Of course, but in an emergency situation, sometimes advanced medical support is necessary. It takes a team people ... Learn to work with each other... The world would be such a better place.
