In response (partly) to my friend who argued last week that people who are poor or broke are so by their of choice because they refuse to seek vocation outside of their comfort zone, I am publicly asking for assistance to any employment opportunities, of any nature. Freelance graphic/web design and social media marketing hasnt been cutting it for years. (For every client who actually pays on time, theres a client who pays weeks/months late, a client who cant afford to pay monthly maintenance because they didnt market their service/product/brand and stopped making money after the first 48 hours of exhausting their friends and family as customers, a client who just up and disappears when they ow money, and a prospective client who confirms they want to hire me, then suddenly puts me on hold indefinitely without coming up with the down payment they agreed to pay to officially start the job.) Ive been on more job interviews—that seem to be scheduled just for HR departments to prove that they are at least doing *their* job—that have even promised follow-ups that never happen. And the part-time job that I have exists solely to pay off a long-standing debt. So now I no longer have the patience or convenience of shame or pride. Dog walker, dishwasher, parrot sitter, doesnt. I just did my taxes and realized that I earned just over the minimum wage yearly salary for 2013. That in itself is embarrassment enough—why would I pretend otherwise. I hope this wasnt a downer for any of you (it wasnt meant to be). Im assuming, much like my becoming sober, I pots this publicly to help myself commit to making some big life changes that, again like my sobriety, I have known Ive had to change for quite some time. [Next will probably be moving out of NYC, which I see happening within the next 5 years. I cant and wont be able to afford living in the city by then, especially if I cant afford to even move *out* of the city now. Ill be sure to pay back everyone I owe money to by then. :) ]
