In response to AiGs calling out of 700 Club broadcaster Pat - TopicsExpress

In response to AiGs calling out of 700 Club broadcaster Pat Robertson for his recent name calling of those of us who stand on God’s infallible Word beginning in Genesis (we are dumb, he said), the Gospel Herald reported the following: “Pastor Eric Wildhern of Northview Baptist in Chattanooga, TN, says it is a shame that Christians attack each other over non-essential matters, calling such disputes a very poor example for non-believers. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we should be encouraging one another in our faith-not calling one another out for things that truly arent salvation issues, he stated, referencing the Bible verse Romans 14, where the Apostle Paul urges Christians to not quarrel over disputable matters.” (gospelherald/articles/51256/20140515/ken-ham-on-pat-robertsons-mockery-of-young-earth-creationists-biggest-problems-in-the-church.htm#sthash.Ko5SLcE1.dpuf) Once again, I believe it important to point out a major problem in the church: pastors who do not understand the vital importance of upholding the authority of the Word of God from the very first verse. God warns us in 2 Corinthians ll:3 that Satan is going to use the same method on us as he did on Eve, to get us to a position of not believing the Word of God. In Genesis 3:1 Satans tactic was to get Eve to doubt Gods Word by attacking its authority, asking: ‘Did God Really Say?’ That same method is being used on the church today, particularly through the teaching of evolution and/or millions of years. Sadly, many Christian leaders have compromised millions of years with God’s Word. As a result, countless people have been led to doubt God’s Word in Genesis, with many ending up on a slippery slide of unbelief regarding the rest of Scripture. The age of the earth is not a salvation issue per se, of course, but it is an authority issue—and thus an indirect salvation issue. You see, the message of salvation comes from the WORD of God—and if people are led to doubt and not believe the WORD, they increasingly won’t listen to the message of the gospel. I encourage you to read a short article I wrote on this issue and share it with as many people as possible. We need to contend for the faith by upholding the authority of the Word and challenging Christian leaders like Pastor Wildhern who need to understand that the Bibles authority is at stake when people reject a literal Genesis.
