In response to my pal Evrlove Corey Fs promoter rant, here is my performer rant :-P Ps for the record Corey and I are indeed pals but I cant pass up a good ole fashion rant off! Dear performers: Why must you always put promoters on blast for how we do things? Why is it always our fault or why are we looked at as the bad guys? Are we REAAAALLY that bad? The world was not made to be a perfect place so sadly yes I will ask you MOST of the time to sell ticket to earn your spot. With that being said, I always proof previous performances of new cats I work with, tracks etc and if they are not ready for the prime slot THEY WILL NOT GET IT! (a little love I give to my og performers) In a perfect world wouldnt the most dope emcee get the biggest turnout and fanbase for their shows? maybe a shtickle?? Its not as easy as giving you a set time, and be done with it. US promoters have to look out for everyone who helps us continue to do what we do and trust me I have returned the fav to many of my long term hustlers time and time again! Not to mention YOU performers make the shows successful because of your ticket sales. We take that away, we go flat broke and YOU performers wont have many gigs to look forward to. The job of a promoter isnt to build on artist career. Its to book shows, sell tickets, HOPEFULLY break even and if we are LUCKY (which is very rare, just ask Greg Nightshift) make a couple bucks.. and i do mean a couple! Anthony James Greening said a quote a couple years ago which stuck in my head Justify your existence. Think about it kids ;) Finally I find it slightly disheartening to be constantly put on blast by some folks who I have done some honest, long term work with. Wheres the love? lol Anyways thats my promoter rant/rebuttal - I have a few hip hop show announcements this week we can all complain about in the coming weeks im sure :-P
