In response to recent shootings in Amuda, the Syrian Coalition calls on all parties in the area to exercise self-restraint and let cooler heads prevail. It is imperative that all parties act responsibly and refrain from retaliation that will cause further division in the area. The Syrian Coalition condemns any behavior that restricts fundamental liberties and infringes on people’s freedom of expression, assembly and peaceful protest. Demonstrations are an important way to protest government actions and they must remain peaceful. Any violations of the peaceful nature of these protests will be tried and prosecuted. The Syrian Coalition offers its deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the latest shootings and wishes a rapid recovery for the wounded. We urge the people of Amuda to calm the tensions and to prosecute those responsible for violating the laws in order to prevent similar actions from occurring in the future. We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded and freedom for our detainees. Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor
