In return to San Mig Coffee, Gilas Pilipinas hero Marc Pingris makes immediate impact Returning to the floor for San Mig Coffee for the first time after his stint with Gilas Pilipinas, Marc Pingris provided an immediate impact for his PBA club. Despite suffering from flu-like symptoms, Pingris scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and provided tough defense against Talk ‘N Text import Tony Mitchell in the Mixers’ 118-99 victory over the Tropang Texters on Sunday night. After the game, Pingris said that he’s still adjusting to being back with his teammates. “Inaalalayan ako ni (San Mig Coffee) coach (Tim Cone) kasi gusto ko makuha yung plays na ginagawa nila,” Pingris told InterAKTV in an exclusive interview. Cone credited Pingris’ presence for inspiring the squad. “He gave us a huge lift on both ends of the floor,” said Cone. “That guy did all the work.” That included huddling up his teammates during breaks in action, barking out instructions involving defensive tactics. Cone wasn’t surprised to see Pingris leading the team in his first game back. “Ping has always been a coach. He’s one of the most vocal players and one of the leaders of this team. I love him doing that. It makes you feel he’s one of the owners of the squad because he owns for his actions and not just one of the workers,” said Cone. -TIMRR9
