In several states--from California to North Carolina--Unitarian Universalist congregations have organized into a statewide advocacy organization. On Saturday, May 10, First UU of Nashville will host a planning conversation about how Tennessee UUs could advocate for justice. While the ministry and service we typically do directly affects our local community, advocacy seeks to affect laws, to change the rules of the game to align more with our values. If youd like to attend that meeting on Saturday, May 10, in Nashville, please let me know. Im not able to attend, but Id love it if ORUUC had 4 or 5 representatives willing to drive over together, to see about next steps toward organizing this effort. If gas money is an obstacle, let me know, so I can find a way to make it possible for you.
