In spite of the cold wind I went to The Sale Barn in Poplar Bluff this morning and picked up a few tools as I have for 40 years. I have a reputation of buying odd hardware and tool parts. One of my junk vendor friends handed me the black object in the photo. It was covered with drywall compound. A turn of the crank told me it was the makings of yet another vise I could use. The vendor stuck it in my canvas tote and told me to make something out of it because he was giving it to me. So, next Friday I will show him the little vise I fashioned out of the thing. Do any of you folks know what the device came from? It is about the size of three decks of cards stacked. It does not fit a B&D Workmate. I mounted it on a piece of 2x4 and drilled holes for a little red oak dog which can be moved from hole to hole. It works great and I am sure I will put it to practical use soon.
