In that [Jesus] himself has suffered when being put to the test, he is able to come to the aid of those who are being put to the test. —Hebrew2:18. •Jesus’ own experience as a human did much to help qualify him as King. The apostle Paul wrote: “He was obliged to become like his ‘brothers’ in all respects, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, in order to offer propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of the people.” (Hebrew2:17) Because Jesus was “put to the test,” he can sympathize with those who are undergoing trial. Jesus’ compassion was clearly manifest during his earthly ministry. The sick, the disabled, the downtrodden—even children—felt free to approach him. (Mark5:22-24,38- 42; 10:14-16) The meek and spiritually hungry were also drawn to him. On the other hand, the proud, the arrogant, and those who did “not have the love of God” in them rejected, hated, and opposed him. —John5:40-42; *Pls do visit jw.org
