In that day… Our perspectives ought to be shaped according to apocalyptic patterns, to the patterns already set by Heaven for the final days of the world as we know it. The secrets of the Lord pertaining to the finalization of His redemptive efforts are already revealed and made known to the Bible student. One short sentence, simple in its construction and preciously pregnant in its content, presents an absolute focus to the corporate mind and the laboring of each and every Christian fellowship: “In that day…” It announces remarkable works never seen on Earth, astonishing activity which the gentile has seldom, if ever, considered. It heralds the very returning of the King of kings, for the redemptive rule to be established in Zion. “His feet shall stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east.” In that day… The Church at large suffers greatly from its forfeiting the apocalyptic view – it no longer knows much about the waiting on God and the serving of Him in expectant patience. Its position does not contain the prophetic element, which constitutes and characterizes a fellowship alive to the purposes of the Redeemer. It carries no heavenly speaking in relation to events prioritized on God’s agenda. The Church alerted to the finalization of the redemptive purposes of the Lord, on the other hand, learns to pray according to the patterns for end time prayer, which the Lord has set forth in the writings of His servants, the seers and prophets. In that day… The dealings of the Lord in the final days, in our days, will still have its focus on the body, which is called the Church – but for purposes far beyond its own existence. It is intended for service, a serving of Israel and the Jew amidst its final sifting. We have before our eyes a fulfillment in part of words like the following: “I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all lands, and will gather you into your own land. And I will sprinkle clean waters on you, and you shall be clean.” The latter part of the small text from the book of Ezekiel is yet to be fulfilled. A day, which holds the fullness of the intention of the prophetic text, is yet to come. The praying Church waits for the redemptive cleansing promised in the text – and it perceives a coming sifting, which requires extra-ordinary expressions of service from her towards each member of the troubled Jewish people. In that day… Even before that day, the Church must engage in priestly service, in a praying which serves the Lord in His work for the bringing forth of the fullness of His eternal covenant made with the Jewish people, and of the promises gathered and ready to find its final and permanent expression. The Church, at large, stands challenged by the necessity of a recovering of an apocalyptic perspective for the sake of a praying forth of that which He is already willing to do. “Thus saith the Lord God; Yet for this will I be sought by the house of Israel.” Eze 36:37 In that day… certain things will crystallize into solid and substantial prayer answers. The sequence of the Scriptures which is numbered Ez 37, is sprinkled by multiples of the short “I will”, “I intend to”, “I have decided to” – and they are all brought to a summary in the “This also” or “For this moreover” – for this will I be sought by the house of Israel, for this will I be sought by the House of Prayer. And, the House of the Lord, the House of Prayer is a gathering of praying saints from all nations unto the Lord, in Christ. The need for prayers answered during Jacob’s trouble is quite obvious, the need for prayer preparing for “that day” is made clear unto each and every Christian fellowship who begin to seek for an apocalyptic perspective. And, the Lord will bring forth prayer answers according to His purposes – He never changes His mind. He never abandons His redemptive purposes or promises. Therefore, pray according to His pattern for the covering or His finalization of redemptive purposes – especially toward the Jew. Lars Widerberg Reading: Zech 14:4, Eze 36:25 -- -- --
