In the A grade men’s competition only one match was played with Rovers just edging out Marist 4-3 in a close encounter. Kieren Deland, Hamish Or, Cooper Wakeman and Brad Simpson all scored for Rovers with Luke Hodges, Matt Swindle and Brenton Nightingale scoring for Marist. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Matt Job, Hamish Orr, Lucas White, Simon Scott. Marist – Brenton Nightingale. In the A grade women’s competition two very close games were played. Cellars defeated Cubs 4-3 with a Cass Hodges hat-trick a highlight of the match. Louise Hawken also scored for Cellars. Tracey Harrison scored twice and Jane Mattiske once for Rovers. Best and Fairest: Cellars – Louise Hawken, Judy Kross, Kylie Blackstock, Ella Harris. Cubs – Mandy Westcott, Maureen Massey. Magpies just edged out Middleton 3-2. Middleton began well scoring the first two goals through Paige Hay and Tavia Taylor. Magpies dug deep and fought back to score three consecutive goals through Janelle Thompson (2) and Wendy Rix. Best and Fairest: Magpies – Nic Knox, Codie Wakefield, Syann Allen. Middleton – Sarah Melhuish. In the B grade men’s competition Cellar Crows and Rovers Gorillas had a 2-2 draw. Cooper Wakeman and Chris Grady scored for Rovers with Matt Lawryk scoring for Cellars. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Lucas White, Cooper Wakeman. Cellars – Andrew Smith, Andrew Francis. In the B grade women’s competition Rovers were too strong for a depleted Middleton Eagles team winning 8-0. Goals were scored by Emily Green (3), Tammy Tanks (2) Susie Mackay, Alyssa Miller and Hannah Ross. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Emily Green, Hannah Ross, Tarni Parsons. Eagles – Holly Cooke, Sue Cooper. Middleton Maroon defeated Middleton Pink 3-1. India Draper, Megan Gould and Faye Williamson all scored for Maroon whilst Amy Draper was the lone goal-scorer for Pink. Young Gabbie Noakes was outstanding receiving maximum best and fairest points. Best and Fairest: Maroon – Gabbie Noakes, Sue Cooper, India Draper. Pink – Ally Smith, Karen Ross. Cellar Crows Black defeated Marist 1-0 in a very close match. Michelle Skinner made the most of her chance in the circle scoring for Cellars and determining the end result. Best and Fairest: Cellars – Michelle Yeo, Michelle Skinner, Em Rogers. Marist – Maureen Massey, Courtney Miles, Justine Morrissey.
