In the Federal budget Health Minister Dutton announced the closure of Medicare Locals (MLs) and the evolvement of a new primary health care structure to be known as Primary Health Networks (PHNs). Whilst it is disappointing to see the closure of MLs, Goldfields-Midwest Medicare Local (GMML) recognises opportunity for continuation of what MLs, our stakeholders and communities would regard as valued advancements associated with primary care reform. Goldfields-Midwest Medicare Local is and always has been dedicated to the primary health care of our region and we will continue to provide services into the communities until June 2015.
