In the Jewish legal system, there are three parties involved - TopicsExpress

In the Jewish legal system, there are three parties involved (excluding folk who are there to listen to the proceedings): 1. The accused (defendant) 2. The accuser (plaintiff/prosecutor) 3. The judge Thats it. The Western legal system affords the accused a defence attorney. Not in ancient Israel. This was because the judge wasnt simply there to preside over the legal proceedings, making certain that they were legal and fair, but that the judge ASSUMED the plaintiffs innocence and began the legal proceedings favourably biased in favour of the plaintiff. It was the prosecutions job to supply irrefutable facts to prove the plaintiffs presumed innocence otherwise that would eventually and reluctantly sway the judges bias against the plaintiff IF the plaintiff was guilty. Thus the judge himself was the accuseds defence and he dropped his defence if the facts showed that the plaintiff was indeed a scoundrel. ........ Scripture clearly reveals that Gods terms of judgement are as revealed in this microcosm of Jewish legal practice. Indeed, God Himself gave the Jews this system of legal practice. Gods first priority in His judgements is to defend His people against the claims of the accuser of the brethren: Satan. Only when it becomes apparent that an individual ignored Jesus offer to provide legal cover in the divine judgement does God RELUCTANTLY drop His defence of a professed follower. The word judgement in the Bible, therefore, should NEVER send genuine Christians into a state of genuine panic. Indeed, the Bible consistently reveals that Gods verdict in His judgements is ALWAYS in favour of His saints. I had an incomplete chat with yet another friend of mine, Preacher Man Darrell Tolbert, today, and I came away wondering how long it will take us all to accept this simple truth that it took me years also to appreciate. I repeat: in Gods judgement hall, the verdict is already and will always be in favour of His saints. The saints are not saints because the pope declared them to be so. They are saints by virtue of their accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Jesus covers them with His righteousness. Then theres a renewal of that cover day by day, moment by moment, as faith without resultant works is dead. Apocalyptic prophecy clearly reveals that God will seat and preside over a judgement prior to destroying the last beast and the little horn power perched on it at the end, before Jesus comes (Daniel 7:9-11, 22, 26). Each time the record mentions this judgement, it clearly states that God ruled in favour of the saints. To the saints... happy cover with the robe of Jesus righteousness.
