In the Name of Allah, All praise is due to Allah, Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah, his Family and Companions. The Obligation of Loving and Honoring the Ahlul Bayt. Lo! those who believe and do good, the Beneficent will appoint for them love.” إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّـلِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمَـنُ وُدّاً {Qur’an, 19:96} Imam al-Hasan the son of Ali {May Allah be pleased with him} said: I am among the Ahlul Bayt whom Allah has made their love obligatory for any Muslim when He revealed to His Prophet: Say: I don’t ask you any wage except to love my near kin. And if anyone earns any good We shall give Him an increase of good.” ذَلِكَ الَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّـلِحَـتِ قُل لاَّ أَسْـَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْراً إِلاَّ الْمَوَدَّةَ فِى الْقُرْبَى وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُ فِيهَا حُسْناً {Qur’an, 42:23} Anas ibn Malik {May Allah be pleased with him} said: The good deed in the verse is to have love for the family of the Prophet Muhammad {ﷺ}. “Do you wonder at the decree of Allah? The mercy of Allah and His blessings be on you, O the family of Ibrahim. Surely, He is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious. قَالُواْ أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ رَحْمَتُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَـتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَّجِيدٌ {Quran, 11:73} Imam al-Husayn the son of Ali {May Allah be pleased with him} narrated that Ali the son of Abi Talib {May Allah be pleased with him} said: The most sincere of people in their actions and the most knowledgeable of Allah are those who are strongest in their love and awe for the sanctity of the people of La ilaha illa Allah. {Related by Imam Abu Nuaym in his Hilyatul Awliyah} Abdullahi ibn Abbas {May Allah be pleased with him} narrates that the Messenger of Allah {ﷺ} said: Love Allah for what He nourishes you with of His Blessings, and love me due to {this} love of Allah, and love my Ahlul Bayt due to {your having} love of me. أَحِبُّوا اللَّهَ لِمَا يَغْذُوكُمْ مِنْ نِعَمِهِ وَأَحِبُّونِي بِحُبِّ اللَّهِ وَأَحِبُّوا أَهْلَ بَيْتِي لِحُبِّي {Sunan at-Tirmidhi ~ The Chapter on Virtues ~ Book 49, Hadith #4158} Ali ibn Abi Talib {May Allah be well pleased with him} narrated that the Prophet {Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him} made a covenant with me that none would love me except a believer, and none would hate me except a hypocrite. أَخْبَرَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا يُحِبُّنِي إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَبْغُضُنِي إِلَّا مُنَافِقٌ {Sunan an-Nasai – The Book of Faith and its Signs - Book 47, Hadith #38} Anas ibn Malik {May Allah be pleased with him} narrated that the Messenger of Allah {ﷺ} was asked: Which of the people of your house are most beloved to you? He said: al-Hasan and al-Husayn {May Allah be pleased with them}. Sometimes he used to say to Fatimah {May Allah be pleased with her} as well: Call my two sons for me so that I may smell them. And then he would hug them. حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يُوسُفُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَىُّ أَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ . وَكَانَ يَقُولُ لِفَاطِمَةَ ادْعِي لِي ابْنَىَّ . فَيَشُمُّهُمَا وَيَضُمُّهُمَا إِلَيْهِ . قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ {Sunan at-Tirmidhi ~ Chapter on the Virtues ~ Book 49, Hadith #4141} Ali the son of Husayn narrated from his father, from his grandfather, Ali the son of Abi Talib {May Allah be pleased with them}: The Prophet {ﷺ} took al-Hasan and al-Husayn {May Allah be pleased with them} by the hand and said: Whoever loves me and loves these two, and their father and mother, he shall be with me in my level on the Day of Judgement. حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَخِي، مُوسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَخَذَ بِيَدِ حَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّنِي وَأَحَبَّ هَذَيْنِ وَأَبَاهُمَا وَأُمَّهُمَا كَانَ مَعِي فِي دَرَجَتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ . {Sunan at-Tirmidhi ~ Chapter of Virtues ~ Book 49, Hadith #4098} Al-Bara ibn Azib (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I saw the Prophet {ﷺ} placing al-Hasan the son of Ali {May Allah be pleased with him} upon his shoulder while saying: O Allah, I love him, so love him. حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ، يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَاضِعًا الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُ فَأَحِبَّهُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَهُوَ أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ . {Sunan at-Tirmidhi ~ Chapter on Virtues ~ Book 49 ~ Hadith #4152} Al-Miswar bin Makhramah narrated that the Messenger of Allah {ﷺ} said: Fatimah is a part of me, and he who makes her angry, makes me angry. حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ~ فَاطِمَةُ بَضْعَةٌ مِنِّي، فَمَنْ أَغْضَبَهَا أَغْضَبَنِي {Sahih Bukhari ~ The Book of the Companions of the Prophet ~ Book 62, Hadith #64] Preview of the Virtues of the Inner House.
