In the Old Testament a man like David stands out ahead of his time. He grasped the fact that God was with him. It was a profound revelation and conviction. Few seemed to grasp it as he did. The Christian grasp of this is even greater. Christ not only forgives, but reconciles us to God. He brings not only forgiveness of SINS, but breaks down the walls which separate us from God. This is totally outside the range of thought in every religion on earth except Christianity. It is unique. It is there in the Old Testament, but it only shines through pinholes. We have to look for it, but it is there from the beginning. In the Gospels it becomes blazing truth. The sin principle withers. “Sin shall have not dominion over you.” Not just this sin or that sin. We may even have a besetting sin, but it is rootless once Jesus Christ saves us. That is the Gospel we take to the world.
