In the Stockyards A historic building is being renovated back to its original beauty. This Furray building is right across the street from Cattelmans Cafe. The Stockyards Mercantile project is the rehabilitation of an existing masonry building located in the Stockyards District of Oklahoma City. Built in 1921, this 17,000 square foot structure, originally known as the Furray Building, served as a general store with a boarding house on the second floor and was a cornerstone to this dynamic historical community of Oklahoma City. This century old building has undergone many renovations over the years. The most recent involved the addition of a canopy structure attached to the front of the building which provided shade for the interior, yet drastically impacted the original façade. The intent is to restore the building to its original appearance and once again bring life to this notable structure.
