In the United States, Martin Luther King’s birthday and his enduring legacy are celebrated as a federal holiday each year on the third Monday in January. Today on his birthday we recognize the indelible contribution Dr. King made in championing the civil rights of minorities and workers of all classes. In 1994, the U.S. Congress designated Martin Luther King day as a national day of service, calling on all Americans to volunteer their time and effort on that day to help realize King’s vision of a “beloved community.” King said it best himself when he remarked, “the time is always right to do what is right”. Today we encourage all of our followers to reflect on the life of Martin Luther King, and to honor his sacrifice in service for someone in need in your community. Tell us in the comments section how you plan to help realize his dream. For more information on the life of Martin Luther King Jr. click here: goo.gl/InVsIA
