In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas says Republicans are eager to end the government shutdown and move ahead with fiscal and economic reforms, but that Senate Democrats and the President continue to refuse to negotiate. Sen. Cornyn, the Senate Republican Whip, says that House Republicans have repeatedly sent over legislation that would fund federal operations, but Senate Democrats have rejected each and every bill. “It has become disturbingly clear that the Obama-Reid shutdown is no longer about health care, or spending, or ideology,” says Sen. Cornyn. “It’s about politics, plain and simple.”
