In the Your government at work section today. Last year I paid my Medicare premium Sept. 26. They cut me off for the full month of October because they said I hadnt paid. This could have been a life or death situation as I have diabetes, heart disease, and asthma among other boring stuff. After a whole month of dealing with automatons I finally was reinstated. Now if it had been anything I did to get suspended I would have had to wait to the next enrollment period. Trying to find out why I was cut off they used the gov. shutdown as an excuse though supposedly it didnt have any affect on the S.S. dept. and the receipt they sent was dated Oct. 4, 4 days after the shutdown. On my next bill they included 104.90 for October. I spent from then til Monday trying to get someone to understand that I had no medicare in October through no fault of my own. All I got was bureaucratic hogwash and to a one, the 20 people I talked to demanded I pay or lose Medicare again. Never in 66 years have I been treated so rudely or dealt with a bigger bunch of phules. No wonder this country is in such a shape.
