In the book of Revelation 12, a story is told of a woman who was to bring forth a child and who was viciously attacked by a dragon/serpent who wanted to destroy the woman and her child. This woman was as helpless as the Tiv nation ie, she could only RUN, and RUN and RUN! The remarkable part of that story has it that God helped that woman! Gods angels fought on her behalf, and God gave the woman wings to fly to the place which He had prepared for her. In the fight, God even caused the earth to open up its mouth and swallow the flood of water that was released after the woman(Rev.12v15-16). In the sustained insurgency in Benue State, as we continue to resist this evil by all manner of prayers, I take solace in this scripture and lift my voice in prayer:- Oh God, the aged are maimed, the young are burnt, pregnant women are slaughtered for something they know nothing about! But you are a God of mercy and justice, therefore Lord arise. Show us your mercy dear Lord. Speak to the earth, and let it help the woman, in this case, the Tiv nation and indeed, all other troubled spots in Jesus name. Lord you have helped the Tiv nation before! Our parents also told us stories of how you have even used a snake in times past to help this race across rivers and vast waters in times past. You are the same yesterday, today and forever. You do not change! Therefore Lord arise as the Mighty man in battle, and show us mercy in Jesus name. Let the cry of the prisoner come up to you oh Lord, and in your mercy, deliver the Tiv nation and indeed all troubled people in Nigeria who are obviously appointed to die. Part the red sea if need be oh Lord; cause the invaders to hear sounds of a superior army amongst us if need be; or cause them to hear rumors from their homes that will unsettle them; blindfold them if need be; swerve the elements if need be, but whatever you do Lord, ARISE in Jesus name. Thank you for answering our prayers in Jesus name. Amen.
