In the case of Ama Joyce Banda, she gave her all during the May 2014 campaign; houses, chickens, cattle, bags of maize, clothes, money and her precious time. But, at the end of the day, this was not enough to secure her tenure in State House beyond the accidental two years. What will she do differently this time around to guarantee her a return to State House? How much more does she have to give? Don’t get me wrong, Malawi is a free country and she is a free citizen able to contest for any position and “I mean any position.” But if Ama could listen for once, she better channel her energies into the charitable work she so much enjoys. For me, the chapter on State House is gone, kaput!Fate handed her a chance and she blew it. The danger with a comeback is that some of the things that happened while she was president what are better left unsaid will now be said by the likes of Patricia Kaliati and company. Trust me, it will not be pretty and she better develop a really tough skin. People will remind her of all those gaffes, bloopers, misdeeds and basically everything and anything. I just wonder if she would stomach that and I ask myself for what?
