In the days since announcing I’m drawing down from touring as a full-time to part-time thang for a while (to teach, refine my music & get more directly involved with green engineering), I realized I had to write a follow-up to everyone. I said some core-level stuff on both sides of the yin and yang. So before what may be my last show if the year - in Boston tomorrow - I’ll try to knit it all together in a final cozy sweater of ideas: There’s an immense amount of current ability and future potential in the music and art scene to help elevate people and serve a hefty amount of purpose. I spent a good amount of the past 4 years pushing myself to find new and interesting ways to do that and met tons of amazing people doing the same in their own way. Some methods didn’t work, but a lot did, and do, and it’s been really rewarding and awesome to take part in the experimental festival and club experience of the 21st century. So, if you’re doin what you can and you dig what you’re doing, keep at it. I certainly don’t mean to deter anyone by wanting to take some time to expand in new trajectories & pointing out some flaws in the game - we can edit the operating system as time goes on. We need good artists as much as we need engineers, as an essential existential mirror into ourselves. Without art and expression I’m not sure if the future would be much of an exciting place to live, no matter what we build and how much we perfect it otherwise. One thing that is pretty evident is that as long as you create with intention, pretty amazing things can come of it, and you will probably benefit everybody. Self-expression can be a powerful thing when it drops like a conscious love bomb on everything it touches. If you’re that love bomb I will give you psy-fives all day, every day in dreamtime, and I probably won’t be the only one. In the live scene especially, I think as long as it’s a party with a purpose, it will continue to evolve and find an even greater place of service and resonance in our communities and networks, and I’d love to see what happens in time. I’ll hop back on board full tilt when it does. To my friends already making that happen, keep that radness up. (Sometimes I do wonder if centering a lot of these things around psychedelics, depressants, tranquilizers, et al. might be playing out at this point by limiting the possibilities for deeper intentions, but that’s my last critique of it that I’ll say here.) I’m gonna miss being on the road a ton, and seeing a lot of you as often as I used to. I’ve met so many incredible minds and super radiant hearts on this ride over the past few years it almost seems unreal. Some of it’s been exhausting and challenging, but life’s chapters ebb and flow and this one’s been an unforgettable trip. No matter what happens in the future, at the most conservative estimate it looks like it’s going to be really freakin interesting. Let’s make it the best kind of interesting we can. While you’re on your own adventures I’ll also keep doing what I can on mine, and will stay in touch of course and find harmonic points of connection. I wish you all an abundant and radiant path ahead. Thanks for this awesome ride and keep creating. Seeya soon. ^_^
