In the early hours of this morning, Dot Krogh died peacefully in her sleep at home after a long illness. She was a wonderful spirit who never lost her wry and iconoclastic personality. She was a great mom, welcoming an extended tribe of family and friends into her house in Bethesda, and the one she created in Blue Ridge Summit. Many people remembered her today as an open-minded matriarch. She was a cool mom, not because she cut us a lot of slack, but because she encouraged free-thinking and following your own road. Today was a beautiful but sad day. Paul Krogh, Kay Gallagher, my dad and I spent the day remembering her, and planning for her memorial service. (May 22 4pm at the Little Sanctuary at St. Albans). We were joined this evening by dozens of family and friends who turned out to pay respects to Dot. Thanks to Stacy Krogh, Alyson Hookway Krogh Neil Gallagher, Peter Krogh, Schuyler Krogh, Mark Baganz, Josie Krogh, Chip and Margaret Nicolson, Pete Evans, Bill Perry, Skip Steuart and more. Thanks to everyone who called, emailed, and came over to raise a glass to Dot. Well miss her.
