In the ideal republican world, we would not have ANY social programs. There would be only two classes of people - the immensely wealthy, who would have all of the rights, and the abjectly poor, who would have no rights at all. Much like the plantations of the old south before the Civil War, except that ALL poor people would be slaves. Our country would have a massive military, and poor people would be forced into that military to be used as cannon fodder. Our environment would be in ruins, so our military would be used to conquer other nations so that we could strip them of all their natural resources. A republican world would be a short-lived one, as it would likely trigger World War 3, with the US taking the place of the enemy.
