The investigation resulted in 32 employees being paid a total of $19,762.62 in back wages. The company also paid administrative fees of $1,976.26 and penalties of $3,000.” (Quoting the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development) November 6, 2006, a consumer fraud civil law suit was filed against Sundance Vacations, Inc. and Sundance Vacations Network, Inc. The fraudulent misrepresentation claim was filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County, docket number L-8256-06. The civil suit detailed numerous violations of N.J.S.A. 56:8 et seq. of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, by utilizing “false pretenses through the use of unconscionable commercial practices.” (As published on the Internet the case was settled out of Court with the standard no admissions of wrongdoing clause.) August 9th, 2009, in the Philadelphia Sunday Inquirer, consumer reporter Jeff Gelles exposed Sundance Vacations’ questionable marketing and sales practices, in conjunction with the fact that Sundance Vacations’ ignores The Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices And Consumer Protection Law (§201-7. The Wisconsin attorney, DeVonna Joy, publicly commented on the Boycott page and was blatantly threatened, personally, by the Sundance Vacations’ CEO, John Dowd. Consequently, over 100 members of the legal community rallied around Ms. Joy, became members of the Boycott page, and some attorneys publicly commented on the Boycott page while offering pro bono legal advice much to the dismay of Sundance Vacations!
