In the interest of keeping up with my new page, here is a quickie endorsement of this terrific film, although not the Coens greatest, it is still very great. The short commendation is i dont know how many times i have seen this already, and its only 3 years old. It is very watchable due to the usual masterful direction by the Bros Coen (Gods, ahem), and the moody beautiful atmospheric score. The acting is top notch, although Bridges is a tad cartoony, but still....the character cast as always is engaging and top notch and we all know the young girl Hailee is pretty much mind boglingly terrific and real. The script is witty fast quick sweet sad deep heartbreaking hysterical Coen great. There are more than i count of absolutely memorable shots, sequences and scenes. To name some: the opening, with the narration and snow, the shot Maddies POV as she approaches the boarding house while Maaaat Daaamon sits on the porch smoking (one of those tidbits of Coen beauty), the sequence of Bridges riding at life saving speed with Maddie on Little Blackie, the horse (amazing shots from Maddies POV dizzying and deep). The flaws of this movie: its a bit rigid in moments, I dont like the ending too much of Maddie grown up and even the snake pit stuff makes it go on too long in some ways...not sure what else...not much. This is the highest grossing Western and while by no means the best, it is terrific and that makes me proud, given how mostly people dont think well of Westerns. The Coens True Grit belongs to that category of films I can put on just about anytime and either watch snippits or in its entirety. While not the perfect masterpiece that is their Millers Crossing nor No Country for Old Men, nor as fun loving as O Brother or Raising Arizona, it is definitely a brilliant moody intelligent entertaining darkly humour Coen Bros Western...and btw, I can just hardly wait for their newest Inside Llewyln Davis...so excited I even saw I just cant hardly wait...something id never saw...i have always worshipped los hermanos coens filled with jealousy and love and respect..and ever wil
