In the last year we have heard this same "shutdown the government" rhetoric three times including this one. Every time, they waffle and moan and above all, milk the "occasion" for as much limelight attention as they can squeeze out of it. It would seem the purpose of these threats is to keep the public thinking about the politicians and letting us know just how insecure our (the publics) position is without them. Somewhat like the small child who dislikes its parents authority and threatens to "show them" by running away. Supposedly Uncle Spendthrift will continue paying the military. They may, however, have to use "vouchers" redeemable after the so called "crisis". This is an attempt to appease the folks with the firepower so they do not do something like what has happened in Egypt where the military, who seems more concerned with the general welfare of the Egyptians than their elected government, has taken the reins in what is tantamoun to a coup. Come to think of it, perhaps a shutdown would be a good thing. The true patriots who serve in uniform could then come to the conclusion that many or even most of the Federal goverment has become a "domestic enemy". Everyone who serves takes a vow to protect not the government, but the Constitution from ALL ENEMIES foreign and DOMESTIC. Recalling an old axiom about the Tree of Liberty, perhaps it is time to feed it again with the blood of some of these domestic tyrants that do not even wish to live by the same laws they impose on the general public. A true Commander in Chief with real world experience in the military could hardly do worse for us than the buffoons in Congress and the White House. Elections shortly after would serve to bring fresh intellect to bear on our problems as a nation.
